Account Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Luno account and what happens to your data. It is provided to meet Apple App Store and Google Play account-deletion requirements.

1. How to Request Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Luno account at any time using either method below.

1.1 In the Luno app (recommended)

  • Open the Luno mobile app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  • Go to Account settings (or Profile → Settings).
  • Select Delete account (or Request account deletion).
  • Confirm the deletion request when prompted.
  • You may be asked to re-authenticate so we can verify that you own the account.

1.2 By email

If you cannot access the app, email us from the address associated with your Luno account:

  • Subject: Account deletion request
  • Include: the email address on your Luno account and a clear request to delete the account.
  • Send to: contact@getlunoapp.com

We may ask you to confirm ownership of the account before we process the request.

2. What Happens After You Request Deletion

Once we receive a valid deletion request:

  • We begin processing your request promptly.
  • We delete your personal data within 30 days of the request.
  • Your access to the Service ends when deletion is completed (or sooner if we disable the account during processing).

Deleting your account is permanent. You will not be able to recover your journeys, check-ins, mood history, voice journals, Expert conversations, or other account content after deletion is complete.

3. Data That Is Deleted

When your account is deleted, we delete personal data associated with your account, including:

  • Account information (such as name, email address, and authentication credentials)
  • Wellness inputs (journeys, daily check-ins, mood tracking entries, and voice journal recordings where applicable)
  • Expert questions and responses linked to your account
  • App usage data tied to your account identity
  • Preferences and settings stored on your account

4. Data That May Be Retained Temporarily or as Required by Law

For technical and legal reasons, some information may not be erased immediately or in full:

  • Encrypted backups: deleted data may remain in encrypted backup systems for up to an additional 90 days before being permanently purged.
  • Legal and financial records: we may retain limited billing, transaction, or compliance records where required to meet tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other legal obligations. This retained information is limited to what is necessary and is not used to provide the Service to you.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data: information that can no longer reasonably identify you may be retained for analytics and product improvement.

If we are legally required to preserve specific information (for example, in response to a valid legal process), we will retain only what is required for the applicable period.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Deleting your account stops access to Luno, but you should also cancel any active subscription if you no longer want to be billed.

  • You can cancel your subscription in your account settings before or as part of leaving the Service.
  • Cancellation of billing is governed by our Terms of Use. Account deletion does not automatically create a right to a refund for the unused portion of a billing period, except where required by applicable law.
  • Payments for Luno subscriptions are processed through our own payment infrastructure (not Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchases). Manage or cancel billing in the Luno app or by contacting contact@getlunoapp.com.

6. Inactive Accounts

If you stop using Luno without requesting deletion, and you do not log in for 24 consecutive months, we will delete your account and associated data automatically, subject to any shorter or longer period required by local law.
